This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
In my forum, there is an user who posted 8 messages and got 1-star, whereas another user who posted 9 messages does not have any star.
Is there more weightage to posts than replies?

Rating (aka Karma) is based on user ratings and not the number of posts. E.g., if someones like the post, they can "give karma" (or rate it). This goes into the jforum_karma table.
A postings "karma" ranking is the average of all the karma given to it by users.
A user's Karma rating (Stars) is based on the total point given across all ranked posting. (or something like that.. check the posting/dig in the code for the specifics...).
So, your 1 star user had someone rank one of his posts and the 0 star didn't...
Oh, FWIW, there is a second "forum rank" mechanism which is based solely on the number of posts. This is the label that shows up under the user's id, e.g. Forum Baby. These are settable in the admin screens. [originally posted on jforum.net by monroe]
I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
