Can I modify the user name?

Hey, when you enter in my profile you can not change the user name. Why can not?. I say this because I create my users on my site and copy the user into the database of the forum, but I wonder know if I can change the name in the database or not. I want to modify the username in my web and copy this changes into forum data base.
