Shall we wait for JForum 3?

We are thinking of using JForum 2.1.8, and we are going to do some customization to it.

The problem is: Shall we wait for JForum 3? When will it be ready?

We are afraid that any customization to JForum 2 will be usless to JForum 3. If JForum 3 is ready pretty soon, it might be better for us to wait.

We're dealing with the same issue here.

We would like to base a portal on jforum for a client and actually planned to port JF2 to using hibernate untill I noticed the pending JF3.

A roadmap would help out a lot of people.
