I am working on Part 2 assignment. Can we use SOA and Spring framework for the assignment? Is it accepted by examiner, as long as we give the justification?

There should not be an issue to use SOA. But why would like to use Spring framework when JEE already has CDI?
Just to be on the safer side use the standard Java/JEE(5/6) components rather than similar open source frameworks otherwise be ready to provide very good justification why you are using Open source components.

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
