hi all.I would be grateful if anyone could give me a good advice. I need to create server based system, which would recieve videos from client IP cameras, stream it on the monitor, then save in the database. So far I have some experience with servlets/JSP-s, socket programming etc. The thing is I am a bit confused how to implement my application. Which technology would you recommend to learn RTPJAVA, JMF,.... for implementing my project? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Well,

For a start if JSP/J2EE is your API/Framework you'll need a J2EE application server.

If you have many concurrent accesses that you may need a clustered/load-balanced environment.

For DB access, probably some JTA compliant appserver and supported back-end (to save videos??)

Too many questions. As an architect, this is where I would start.

JSPs(eww) and Sockets can come later ...

Hopefully this doesn't sound too obvious, but the first technology I would learn about for that project would be RTP.

Thank you for your responses.
@Paul Clapham can you recommend some books for RTP learning?

No, I can't. That's because I know nothing about RTP except maybe what I found out from my 30 seconds of googling earlier.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
