I've seeded the new template for the OCAJP FAQs - http://www.coderanch.com/how-to/java/OcajpFaq

This new webpage/template is based on the legacy SCJA web page - http://www.coderanch.com/how-to/java/ScjaFaq.

The page needs a lot of work....

For those who have information in regards to the FAQs, please update the page.

I'll be updating it as well through my discoveries.

Thanks, Robert

Ahh. Proving your worth once again.

I think one of the first points of order should be standardizing the name of this darn exam. I've seen lots of people just call it OCA. This forum calls it OCAJ, which I don't like. I keep calling it OCAJP, which is in line with what Oracle calls it on their website.

Any thoughts?

The "Java SE 7 Programmer I (IZO-803) exam" enables a candidate to achieve the

"Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer certification"

I personally feel that ""Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer " should be shortened to (OCAJP7)... which does have quite a few references as seen on Google.

Any concurrence? Actually, OCAJSE7P would be more accurate. But for me, this is a -1.

Good point. It seems the community still hasn't completely grasped the difference between A, P, and E levels that Oracle has recently created for Java certification and that causes confusion. Both OCAJP and OCPJP are Java "Programmer" certifications, but one is at associate level and the other at Professional level. Add to it the fact that the old SCJA was not a "programmer" certification at all but had "associate" in its name. That causes a very reasonable (but wrong) assumption that old SCJA is now called OCJA (or OCAJ).

OCAJP or OCAJP7 is the right term.

I really don't want to start a debate here, but the SCJA exam did have coverage of basic features of the Java programming language... so it was partially a programmer certification... at the entry level.

I like just plain OCAJP. With the SCJP and SCJA exam we never specified the version number. It was just the plain old SCJP, and then it was later specified which version.

Plus, it then differentiates itself with Part II, which hopefully will take on the moniker of OCPJP.

Have I sufficiently hijacked this thread? Since I'm a moderator, I should probably tell myself off.

I've updated the forum header to link to both FAQ pages. Let me know if the verbiage isn't clear. I was trying to think of a way to show old vs new exam, but there may well be better terminology.
