Common pitfalls when upgrading from Tomcat 6

Hello guys,

My team is very used to work with Tomcat 6 but, now that we know there's a guide like "Apache Tomcat 7 Essentials" we're considering upgrading. There are always differences between versions, like minor changes in configuration files, that can get a sysadmin lost for a whole day. Are these differences in procedures or files detailed in any chapter of the book?

Greetings and thanks in advance.

Hi Cristina,
There are two types of version number.
1. Major – this version will change if their architecture level change or new module integration
2. Minor – this version will change almost every month with bug fix and minor functionality.
Every version bug fix and change log can be tracked using the following link
http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-7.0-doc/changelog.html

Yes this book cover the common pitfalls which may arise during the upgrade and best practices, also I have discussed the different approaches used in enterprise middleware environment.
