Strange Warnings in XML Doc

I am getting many warnings in my xml doc "Unknown Java Type: ..." See commented line below for example.

<web-app id="WebApp_ID" version="2.4" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd">
	<display-name>
	DrawingPDMW1</display-name>
	<filter>
    	<filter-name>My First Filter</filter-name>
    	<filter-class>com.drawingpdmw1.connections7.Filter1</filter-class> //Getting Warning on this line
  	</filter>
  	<filter-mapping>
    	<filter-name>My First Filter</filter-name>
    	<url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
  	</filter-mapping>

It cannot find the class on application startup.

Locate it in the jar and ensure it's on the CLASSPATH or web-inf/lib

CLASSPATH is ignored by Tomcat and - I suspect - other servlet containers. If you are working with Tomcat see the class-loader-howto.html file in the docs directory of a typical Tomcat install for the details of where Tomcat looks for class files.

In JBoss, you can modify jboss-services.xml as in this example:

<server>
   <classpath codebase="${jboss.server.lib.url:lib}ext" archives="*"/>
   <classpath codebase="${jboss.server.config.url}" archives="*"/>

This allows us to put all vendor endorsed jars such as jdbc drivers etc. in the "classpath"
for all web apps.

You may be correct about Tomcat.
