There is a whole site that rates PHP editors (which is what I assume you meant, and not text editors):
http://www.php-editors.com/review/
(Though it looks like it has been a while since that site was updated...)

Dreamweaver is a great PHP editor because of how easily it handles ftp and has a decent error reader.
ColdFusion is a great PHP editor because it is fairly basic, but it helps you remember to close your tags.

There's also a couple of Eclipse options:

  • Eclipse + PDT plugin: This is free, but if you're not used to a full-featured IDE it may be quite a learning curve.
  • Zend Studio: This is a commercial extension of Eclipse/PDT with lots of extra stuff from Zend. There is a basic free trial version, but you have to pay for the fancy stuff.

  • No more Blub for me, thank you, Vicar.

    Hi Jared Drake,

I am used both Dreamweaver and Edit+ editor and confused for selecting - which is the best? I like both of these editors. Can you suggest me which is the best and why?

Editors are always subject to personal preference. One person's gem is another's garbage. If you can, try them both on a medium-sized project. Then pick the one you like best. If you can't decide, consult a cylindrical binary selection mechanism.
