Hi All,
we are trying to start the server with following setting

USER_MEM_ARGS="-Xmx2048m -Xms1024m -XX:PermSize=512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -XX:NewSize=512m -XX:MaxNewSize=512m -XX:+HeapDumpOnCtrlBreak -XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError -Dweblogic.threadpool.MinPoolSize=25 -Xss256k \
-XX:SurvivorRatio=8 -Dweblogic.threadpool.MaxPoolSize=25 -XX:+AggressiveHeap -XX:+UseParallelGC \
-XX:ParallelGCThreads=4 -Dsun.rmi.dgcserver.gcInterval=3600000 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=3600000 \
-Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=true"

and getting following exception

weblogic.management.DeploymentException:

at weblogic.application.internal.BaseDeployment.prepare(BaseDeployment.java:193)

when we are changing the settings to

USER_MEM_ARGS="-Xmx1024m -Xms1024m -XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:NewSize=512m -XX:MaxNewSize=512m -XX:+HeapDumpOnCtrlBreak -XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError -Dweblogic.threadpool.MinPoolSize=25 -Xss256k \
-XX:SurvivorRatio=8 -Dweblogic.threadpool.MaxPoolSize=25 -XX:+AggressiveHeap -XX:+UseParallelGC \
-XX:ParallelGCThreads=4 -Dsun.rmi.dgcserver.gcInterval=3600000 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=3600000 \
-Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=true"

no error is coming .

we have a big jar of size ~133mb.

please let me know what is the issue when i am trying to modify the -Xmx to 2048m
the free memory on our machine is more then 6 GB.
we are trying to run the application in unix environment.

Amitosh,

looking into the env. details that you set up, I would like to point you out that,

1. it is recommended that xms and xmx are to be set to the same value.
2. I would like to know what is the RAM size. It is recommended that the max perm size is set to 1/4 of the total RAM.
3. Also, why are you using parallel GC ?

Try with the recommended settings and let us know the results.

Looking into the stack track, nothing much can be commented upon.

As I can see, you generate heap dump on out of memory. A look into the heap dump might through more light on the issue.

Please post the same if more assistance is required.

we tried to set both as same also still the result was same.
3. i cant answer the third question exactly we have multiple cpu that could be one reason.

to generate heap dumps, you need a tool?

can you please post the same.
