Declaring a field in XML

now i am working on jasper reports instead of ROWNUM i am usaing REPORT_COUNT
while using report count i am getting error like "sort field ROWNUM not declared".
in xml i have the following code

<field name="SERVICE_ID" class="java.math.BigDecimal"/>
<field name="VEHICLE_ID" class="java.math.BigDecimal"/>

<field name="DESCRIPTION" class="java.lang.String"/>
<field name="JOURNEY_DATE" class="java.sql.Timestamp"/>
<field name="CREATED_BY" class="java.math.BigDecimal"/>
<field name="CREATED_DATE" class="java.sql.Timestamp"/>
<field name="MODIFIED_BY" class="java.math.BigDecimal"/>
