Do I need a SCJA certification?

I am an embedded software engineer. I know the basics of Java but I have been out of touch. I would like to learn Java and enter the mobile Java field. Also, I have not done any certifications in Java. Should I start with SCJA ? Also, is SCJA needed for SCJP certification ? How much does the SCJA certification cost? Please guide me..

Also, are there 2 OCA certifications ? OCA programmer I & OCA programmer II ? I see so many posts where people talk about 2 OCA certifications... Can you shed some light on this too..

Until the OCAJ materials are available, you could use SCJA study guides plus additional material or just use a subset of SCJP material.

Note that various sections of the following SCJP book provides near full coverage of the OCAJ exam.

No, there is one OCAJ certification.

You take this mandatory associate certification before the professional... both are part of the Java certification path.
