My JBoss server 6.x created loggers date wise and I can see separate log files every day. suddenly, JBoss is updating log file which 8 days old in addition to the current log file. Why this happens? Any reason for this behavior? My jboss-log4j has all default configurations.

Without looking at the logging configurations, it's hard to tell.
