I've cleared SCJP 1.5 4 and half years back. Now I want to reappear for SCJP's newer version. I've gone through Certification Finder and got confused. Should I've to go through OCP Java SE 6 Programmer or OCP Java SE 7 Programmer? And in OCP SE 7 Programmer, there are two exams names - Programmer I and Programmer II. Can I apply directly for OCP SE 7 Programmer II ??
Well, the choice is absolutely yours (you can also search in this forum about which option is better and why etc.), however, below points might help you:
1) For OCPJP 6, there's no prerequisite. So, anybody can give that exam.
2) OCAJP 7 - No prerequisite. However, this is associate exam (not programmer) - so basically, that would be a downgrade.
3) OCPJP 7 - Now, the thing here is - this exam is at same level of SCJP in old days. So, technically speaking, you should be giving upgrade exam of OCPJP 7 instead of normal OCPJP 7. Anyone who has cleared older version of OCPJP and/or SCJP is eligible for OCPJP 7 upgrade exam(which make you eligible for upgrade exam). However, on the official website, I did not find if there is any way to give OCPJP 7 normal version without giving OCAJP 7 (for candidates who posses older OCPJP and/or SCJP) - so I would suggest to make this thing clear (in writing of course) from Oracle's certification department.
Of course, if you want to go for OCPJP 7 upgrade exam, then you are all set for it.
Why would you take the regularly OCPJP 7 rather than the upgrade exam? The standalone exam would be redundant with the exam already taken. It seems like the upgrade exam would be the clear choice for Ishani

I have been searching since last so many days but I didnt find proper study material neither simulators for upgrade exam. Going through Head First Design Patterns and Core java volume II for Design patterns and JDBC. But what about other exam topics. And what about the practice mock tests and exam simulators for upgrade to OCP SE 7 exam?
