localhost not there

Hello I have tried everything to get the localhost to work but it does not. When I utilize the JBoss Admin utility, it says all services are running except for the MMP.war file. MMP.war is what I am using.

I've done everything where that is concerned (up there).

Isn't there a way to force your localhost to work, like a no holes barred approach to firing it up?

Can anybody help me troubleshoot or guide me to a resource online?

Thanks,

I'm moving this to our JBoss forum, since it sounds like a JBoss problem, but you might want to provide a bit more information to help us troubleshoot it. Have you looked at your log file, or the console log? Does it say your MMP.war is being deployed?

I like the idea of being able to force something to work ... like having a "Just freakin' work" button. I'd use that all the time!

Posting the console log for when JBoss AS was started would help.

Also, are you starting JBoss AS from within Eclipse or from the command line? It might be easier to debug the problem in the command line. In other words, let's do things manually first to make sure everything is working. Once we are sure of that, we will go back to Eclipse to find out why it is (once again) making live miserable for developers.

I am unsure how to start it from the command line, I will research that however while I await your reply. If you have any suggestions on how to start from the command line, it would be helpful.

As you requested, here is the server log:

According to this line:

2012-05-25 14:15:45,483 INFO [org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol] (main) Starting Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-127.0.0.1-8080

JBoss AS is starting on localhost. You should be able to open a browser at http://localhost:8080 and get the home page (unless you have removed it).

I am unsure how to start it from the command line

Get the free chapter 1 from JBoss in Action (link is below), it'll tell you how.

I do not know how to explain it but my application loads now for some reason at http://localhost:8080

But I have a question, it is now saying this: (after I login to the application)

HTTP Status 500 -

Hi Michele,

That's your code throwing an exception. I found some of your code in another thread:

The message doesn't quite match what you have here, but I assume it's more-or-less the same. You catch a Exception and rethrow a ServletException with your message, but since you don't wrap the original Exception up, we don't see the real root cause of the problem. It looks like you're logging it though, so it might be in a log file somewhere.

A better way to write a catch and rethrow is:

Also if I could extend Peter's suggestion in a way he can't: buy that whole book. It's excellent.
