Index not loaded

Hi all,

I am a newbie with Tomcat.
I have installed it on a openSuSe 11.2 (I downloaded it from Apache website) but it seems not working.
To go to the welcome page I have to type


If I simply type http://localhost:8080 or http://localhost:8080/root nothing is loaded.

Any hints?

Is the .jps extension a typo in your post, or is that the actual extension of the index file you're requesting? If it's not a typo in you post, my guess is you probably want to rename your file to index.jsp.
Or, if you really do want to maintain the .jps extension and you want it to be recognized as a welcome file, you should add it to the welcome file list in web.xml located in the conf folder of the Tomcat server (not to be confused with the web.xml deployment descriptor of your web application).
