The context xml (dispatcher-servlet.xml) will map with flow as follows
"servletname"-servlet.xml.
Basically this context xml is used to define the ban and simple mapping url and etc.
So I hope the servlet name is defined as "dispatcher" in your web.xml I suppose, apart from that there is no much more information.

The best place to learn about stuff like this is the reference documentation which is really quite good. Please have a read on the section about the dispatcher servlet. If you still have questions after reading I would be happy to help you answer them.

Can you be a little specific about what differences you have questions on? A spring app still adheres to the same directory structure of a standard web-app.
