Dear Sir,

I'm a student from India who aspires to give the SCJP/OCJP exam this year. I'm extremely confused regarding the current version of the exam ie Java 6 or Java 7. Also I have purchased the SCJP java 6 study guide by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates for this exam. Could you please tell me if this book is sufficient for the preparation of the current version of the exam. Also could you please highlight any change in the exam pattern than the one mentioned in this book. Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kanishk.

You can't appear directly in OCJP 7 exam. You have to first clear prior prerequisite OCA 7 exam .But with old SCJP 6 exam you can appear in exam directly.

I think you should prepare for OCA 7, it will be much better.

I'm actually just 17 years old and I have been studying core java for over 2 years now. I just need a certificate to show to international colleges that I'm very keen in my area of interest and hence get some benifit in my admission. Do you still suggest that I take the OCA 7 exam instead of the SCJP 6 ( Exam 310-065).

it doesn't matter that anyone is 17 years old or 70 years, anyone can appear in these certification exams anytime there is no age limit announced yet by oracle. If you are very keen then it will be very easy for you to clear OCA 7 then what's problem ?

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
