I chose it when I had to do file uploads. It was the right choice. A good place for examples is RoseIndia Struts
If you start from scratch now you probably want Struts 2.
Or check out an example struts action which is my latest example (1.3.9)

Struts is an open source framework for creating Java web applications based on the Model View Controller (MVC) pattern.
