I am using terminal to install Tomcat 6 on my mac, so basically installing it on Linux. I get an error message when I check the logs which I cannot find how to solve anywhere. It seems like a similar message that some people have had for which the solution was to change the encoding of tomcat-users.xml to utf-8 however when I go to the file it is already set to that format. The log file is as follows:

Michael, welcome to the forums!

Is that the entire exception stacktrace? If not, can you post the entire stacktrace? The error message doesn't mention the file name it is trying to parse, so maybe the entire stacktrace might give a hint.

I managed to fix it, it turns out I had the wrong path to my Java home.
