in a job requirement, it require:

use of information retrieval packages using query languages

i don't understand what is it? who can help and give me sample? i wonder if it is something like lucence?

Very vague - sounds like the person who wrote the ad doesn't know what it means either. Why don't you call them and ask them which specific "information retrieval packages" they mean?
