Hello !
I am currently pursuing my B.tech in CSE and would enter in 2nd year !!! So i wanted to ask whether i should start preparing for SCJP 6 as my programming skills are good and I also have some knowledge about JAVA and I am thinking of giving the test in 2-3 months !!!
Please tell me what I should do !!!

IMO I don't think you really need to give it. It costs a whopper (around 8k from NIIT and 7.7k from Aptech) and is not at all necessary at this stage, unless you're like me and are being forced to give it by a company that has a tieup with your college. You can give it later!
PS - I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who was considering giving it in college itself!
PPS - SCJP/OCJP is not as easy as you think! It will take a while but with the book by KathySierra and a good basic hold of core Java, you can manage.

Yes pritish is right. recently the cost of certification has gone up. from 6k to around 8k. everybody has got reasons for certification. some do because of company policies , some because of enhancing their resume and some people just out of fun , to test their coding skills. and i must say it feels cool to be certified. no matter what are your reasons keep the cost in mind. and as pritish said scjp/ocpjp are way different from what is taught in classrooms. it is difficult and required hard work. if you can shell 8k bucks then i think , if you really want to give then you can go ahead. You can make your buddies jealous. also if you don't want to give certification then why don't you increase your java skills . there are so many good books out there. why don't read kathy seirra ? also i suggest you 2 great books Core java Vol 1, 2 and Effective java by Josh bloch. they are must read books.

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
