Career Guidance (MTech + More)

Hey everyone. Since this is such a helpful forum, I decided to ask around about this...

I'm planning to go for MTech after my BTech is over with (that is, in 2 years). How many of you have given IIT's GATE exam or thought about giving it (obviously this applies to Indians only)?

Could someone guide me as to how they attempted it, if they did? What they did to prepare (the books I can take care of, I actually have some in my Flipkart wishlist for later, but I'm open to suggestions ), how much time they put in, etc.

Also, my ambition (don't laugh) is to be an ethical hacker. I was considering doing CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) in the US later, but that requires me to be in a company. Has anyone ever gone for it? How is it? Tell me about it! (This question can be answered by anyone).

In short, can anyone explain to me what path I have to follow to inculcate both of these into my career? The reason for MTech, btw, is because I'm in a crap college.
