Regarding Voucher again

People, I urgently need your guidance. Especially Indians who have given the exam.

Aptech Gurgaon never mentioned this before, but for INR 7.7k they are only providing me with the Voucher Code. This is what I was wary about : some hidden information or the other.

Is the code enough? Without the voucher, how will I know the legitimacy of the code that they provide me? After all, they are just a sales point.... they are now telling me that the voucher costs INR 8.5k, and on Pearson's website it is 150 USD = INR 8255. Is this some sort of joke?

More importantly, why is the voucher priced at INR 8500 if only the code is required??

I did tell dad that it may have been wrong for him to pay them in advance. What do I do now?

Well, the physical 'voucher' is gone now (the small print-out we used to get during SUN days).

Now, Oracle simply provides an encrypted PDF - which contains voucher number, expiry date and so on. If the institute is providing you that file, then its fine.

You can also confirm that whether you can use this 'voucher' (or voucher code) at other exam centers. Ideally you should be able to do that (I've bough similar 'voucher number' at one institute, but gave exam at another institute - not a single problem).

Voucher prices generally goes up and down, and those are different in different nations. $150 is price in US. In India, it might be different (different than simple conversion). e.g. mandatory courses for OCMJD costs around Rs. 30K in India, but they cost more than $1000 in US(not sure about latest pricing though).
In general (not always), you can buy vouchers at slightly low price when expiry date approaches.

Finally, in case of any doubt, pay by credit/debit card, ask for receipt and email confirmation right away. I believe that a reputed institute like Aptech won't play any games and will provide you a genuine voucher (or voucher number), but its always better to be careful.

We paid them by cash and have an Aptech receipt so I think getting the receipt isn't an issue. What is this email confirmation you speak of? Also I am going to ask whether the email they are giving us has a password protected pdf...

Its just a couple of emails. One should contain an encrypted pdf file, and another should contain its password.

Indeed, there is no encrypted pdf or password!

However, dad suggested a much better option. Rather than accepting the code by email we will go to their office and book it on their computers infront of them. They will be forced to give our money back if the code is not legit.

I don't mind booking the exam tomorrow. I plan to give it on the 28th of this month.

Just riddle me this : they did not mention an expiry date, what if 28th is beyond the expiry date of the voucher, will the code be parsed as invalid?
