Developer write code in various languages such as Java, Python, Perl etc.
Testers test code using various testing tools. Rarely would a tester be expected to have programming knowledge. Per se, your testing job is independent of the language.

This is something only you can answer. Start off by asking yourself, do I want to be a developer or a tester at this stage. Your answer should be something which interests you, which you really like doing.
