Glassfish3.1.2 asadmin fails

Hi all,
I've installedGlassfish 3.1.2 on Windows Vista. When I want to start domain1 from asadmin, it fails with the following:

d:\glassfish3\bin>asadmin start-domain
Waiting for domain1 to start .Error starting domain domain1.
The server exited prematurely with exit code 1.
Before it died, it produced the following output:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Server
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Server

        at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
        at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190)

        at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:247)
Could not find the main class: Server.  Program will exit.
Exception in thread "main"
Command start-domain failed.

I thought it could be a classpath issue and set the classpath explicitely in asadmin.bat:

Now the result is different:

org.glassfish.appclient.client.acc.UserError: Client Container xml: null not fou
nd or unable to read.
You may want to use the -xml option to locate your configuration xml.

The only interesting thing is that I registered the installed Glassfish into Netbeans 7.0.1, and clicking on 'Start', starts the domain fine.

Could anyone tell me how to manage Glassfish without netbeans?
