Java Applet Access Problem

I know next to nothing about Java - I'm not sure if a 'Beginng Java' subforum is elementary enough....

There's a brand new just out of the box 64 bit Windows 7 desktop PC that I set up for a friend who buys and sells used cars. The PC works beautifully, but he cannot connect to a live auction site that he frequents.

We have IE9 32 bit installed as well as the latest version of Firefox.

He uses a site called copart.com where he does a member login, then he clicks on a tab to get him to the auction page. From that page he can view all the copart auctions across the US. If he clicks on an auction that has not yet begun he gets a little applet box displays a countdown of the time till that auction starts. So far, so good.

But, if he clicks on an auction that has already begun, he gets a little Java logo that displays for a second or so in the applet box, followed by a msg 'connecting to server'. It never does. It just sits there. It does the same thing in both IE9 and Firefox.

I have used his login on several other PCs - from other Windows 7s to Vista to XP, and it works perfectly on all of them.

I went into Java, clicked on the Advanced tab, expanded the Java console and selected 'Show console'.

Here is what I get when I click on an auction that has already begun:
Java Plug-in 10.5.1.255

I have no idea what it's trying to tell me. Or why it works on every other PC, including Windows 7 64 bit running 32 bit IE9. I did a Google search on what I figured was the area of this text - Error detecting proxy: access denied, but I found nothing particularly helpful. Just a lot of incidents where people were having problems with applets they'd written - not the case here.

Any thoughts?

I want to thank everybody at the forum for their help.
I solved it myself by uninstalling Java and reinstalling an older version. I couldn't have done it without you.

Thanks for sharing the solution; it might be helpful for someone else down the road who has the same unusual -and, going by the lack of responses, rare- problem.

Welcome to the Ranch
As Ulf has hinted, obviously nobody else knew the solution.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
