Which consulting firms pay the best?

Does anybody know which IT consulting firm pays its consultants the most? What percentage of bill rate do they pay?

For those considering answering this question: please bear in mind that the Ranch rules forbid discussion of specific firms. So that makes the question as stated unanswerable here -- but it doesn't rule out more general answers.

It depends. Every consulting firm has consultants at different rates. When they want to win a job, they send their highly paid best consultant. In performing the tasks, they do have a mixture of senior, mid level, and junior consultant. So, your focus should be in what is the best way to fast track your career through the ranks with the relevant skills, experience, and knowledge by working on some quality projects.

That's great input. Really appreciate it. However I'm looking for guidance to specific firms, didn't realize that was against the rules. I'll try some different forums.

I can say that when I was a consultant (30 years ago) I was billed out at about four times my salary rate. My daughter is now a lawyer and apparently roughly the same number applies to her today. But I suspect that's only an order-of-magnitude number and that firms may bill out their staff at higher or lower ratios, depending on things like the competition and the length of the contract and so on.
