As I understand it the Tomcat admin console is not supported after v5. Some how I got the impression that Hyperic HQ was the "replacement". I have Hyperic HQ installed and working. And it is great for monitoring. But I want some thing which will let me deploy war files. So was am I missing / not understanding here? TIA

Please ignore post, I have no idea what I am talking about.

If by "Tomcat admin console", you mean the manager webapps, some versions of Tomcat distributed them separately from the Tomcat server itself, but they were never actually discontinued. In Tomcat 7, for example, there are even multiple security roles defined to facilitate fine-grained access control for the different management functions.

The manager webapp has a function that allows you to upload and deploy a WAR file via your browser.

Ok, that was helpful. I don't know where I got the idea that the web app manager was no longer supported.
("admin console" - too much Websphere)
I have also been confusing my self lately thinking that tc Server replaced Tomcat. But that is a different thread.
