cannot connect a MySQL database on a hosted website

Well, I have a MySQL database on a hosted website. I want to connect to the database by using JDBC, as below -

Connection conn = null;
		Statement stat=null;
		ResultSet rs = null;
		try{
			Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
			conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://IPadd/xyzdb","usrnm","pswd");
			stat = conn.createStatement();
			rs = stat.executeQuery("Select * from table1");
			rs.next();
			System.out.println(rs.getString("id"));
			conn.close();
		}catch(ClassNotFoundException e){System.out.println(e);

When I run the program, I get below error -

I can't understand where this error is coming from? and how to solve it?

This belongs in one of the Database forums. You can expect your post to be moved somewhere there (JDBC?) shortly.

Yes, JDBC would make much more sense than the forum it's in now. I will move it there.

But as for the question: What does your hosting company say about this? Did they tell you that your database would be accessible over the network? Or did you just assume that? At any rate your next step should be to contact their customer support people.

Thanks paul. I am not confirm whether my website host provide MySQL db access. I will contact CC.
