Node.js question

Good day,

Currently we are using a tomcat server with struts2 framework to do some basic function like file processing, database insertion and updation, and generate JSON object from DB and send it to a page for consumption. my colleague suggest node.js can do the same and probably to replace the tomcat which doing the above mentioned tasks.

I'm not sure how powerful of node.js, and I would like to hear from expert views, is this possible or is a risk to move into node.js ?

Thanks in advance!

There are a lot of technologies that can pass JSON from a server to a client. That is not why one might choose to use Node.js. Nor is it as simple as "replacing Tomcat".

If JavaScript can do it, Node.js can handle it. I think you should do some Googling and spend some time here so you can get a better understanding of what Node.js is. Then, when you have questions that aren't as easily answered by a Google search, come here and ask. We'll see if we can help out.
