Startups are very personality based. It all depends on who the core group of people are, what they bring to the table and how they work with each other. If you are planning to work on a startup, ask a lot of questions about the people who are founding the company. You are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. If you are not reasonably impressed, don't join

Also, "internship" in a startup?. Sounds to me more like a situation where they are cash-strapped. It's unlikely that people at a startup have the time and focus to plan a good internship program. Are they giving you any stock options?

No they are not giving me any stock option. Actually the person who started the company is a friend of friend. He has started it in 2012 but develop good project for computer engineers. so i thought it is good if i get an internship from him as i have mca final year project and i can also work with him for last semester so i get 6 moths experience also. so i can try in big company after exp of 6 or 12 months in java.

i don't have to give interview and apti and all his a friend of my friend. shall i go for it ? please tell me. Dunno he will give me salary. just to get an experience shall i work with him ?

Of course, as a part of your semester internship, you can surely work with him.. It will be an added experience.. But after that, i think you need to switch over..

That is true. Startups do not have time to invest in interns so they must have some faith in you to bring you in.

On the other hand, a startup by students sounds a little skeptical to me. You will be working with people that do not have experience building projects at big scale or delivering them successfully to a user base. If the startup is full of students, who will mentor them ? Even mature startups that have experienced engineers and managers need mentors. Make sure they have a good direction and know what they are doing before you join. You need to derive value from them as much as they derive value from you.

Good luck.

Yes Deepak. The owner of that company had worked for 6 months in a company and left that to start his own business. All of them are students but have knowledge. He develops final year project for engineer students. He sales these project for them at 40,000 rupees. I think he has good knowledge about java. He is developing engineering final year project for my friend.

Project is:-
Computers are connected with each through LAN. A mobile connects to a computer via Bluetooth and another mobile is connected to another computer in that LAN via Bluetooth. I should be able to make call to that other mobile by the computer this mobile is connected and that will go through LAN and other computer will pass that call to the other mobile which is connected to it via Bluetooth.

Means mobile voice call is made through LAN like Mobile(Caller)->Computer->LAN->Computer->Mobile(Receiver).

So I thought if he does this kind of project then he may have adequate knowledge about java.
For above project he charged my friend 38,000 Rupees.

@Ganesh Pat - Are you serious? 40000 Rs for a single student project, shocking isn't it? That's almost equivalent to an academic year fees in college (with few exception of some high college).

Ugh. So you want to join someone who *sells* engineering solutions to final year students that they were supposed to do in the first place ? Good luck

Knowledge is so much more than making engineering projects that you can sell. Its hard to put into words. Engineers evolve through exposure and experience. Its your call I guess.

@ Rameshwar yes , a engineering student who lives next to me paid 38,000. I've briefed above what that project is about. Not all project for 40,000 relies on the project but near around that...

@ Deepak , No man I'm just asking because I've no idea about companies. You know its very tough when your 26 and don't fit in any criteria. Where you can only see plenty of companies coming for placement and you can only watch nothing else that time every student feels to get in any company at any salary. I've seen so many MCA and Engg student who don't fit in any criteria ready to work free no salary for first 6 months so they can at least get an experience . So next time while switching they will not see his/her academic record.

These are the consequences of our deeds. But i don't want to keep crying for past that's why don't want to waste my time as I'm in V semester of MCA. I'll have 6 months in my hand so i will work so i can get experience of 6 months that's what i'm thinking...
