How to identify start and end of row in apache poi for HSSF event api

Hi,
I am writing a program which reads the xls file with the help of apache poi event api.
Currently i am using the way which mentioned in http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/poi/trunk/src/examples/src/org/apache/poi/hssf/eventusermodel/examples/XLS2CSVmra.java
On the above example they are using variable thisRow which use to check for row change. Is there other way to do that. (In XSSF event model we got the event when row end and start new row).
