Where to start creating server/client that will comunicate with mysql?
posted 3 years ago
I'm getting ready to start a project (which will be a learning project) to write a server that will save data to a MySql database. If someone could point to articles, code samples and/or tutorials that would help me figure out the best way to do this. This would be a huge help.
Normally people would just use the MySQL JDBC driver to write data to a MySQL database. But you want to bypass that and write your own server? Then the articles you're looking for are most likely on the MySQL site, I would expect there to be some technical specs which describe the low-level communication protocols which the database supports. And the code samples you're looking for would be the code for the JDBC driver (remember, it's open-source). As for tutorials, usually tutorials provide an introduction to a topic rather than information about a highly specific aspect of a technology, so I wouldn't expect to find any tutorials.
On the other hand if you just want to use the MySQL JDBC driver as the basis for your server, then you're just looking for basic information about JDBC.
