I've noticed that some people have the SCJP logo on their resume from > 10 years ago. Not saying this bad, but I feel like that logo should imply the candidate remembers some of the material from the exam. Thoughts? Is it appropriate to leave it up forever? Is it appropriate to assume knowledge from it?

I think the SCJP logo is only good for entry level candidates. An old SCJP logo which looked like a hot cup of coffee(much better than the new red and black Oracle logo),will make the person look like a seasoned campaigner as a first impression.
And, SCJP level OOPS knowledge is always assumed and seldom tested in case of 3+ yr experience.

I am surprised that you ask that. Don't ask me why I am surprised. I just am.
Certs are mostly worthless. The logo only makes the resume ugly.It does not
add any value.
