This is my first post in this forum, but over the past few months I have been browsing through various doubts posted regarding the Java certification.Today I passed OCPJP 6 with 91%
So Thank you all....
The SCJP Study Guide by Sierra and Bates helped me tremendously, I can confidently say that studying for this certification has improved my knowledge on Java. I read the book almost 2-3 times, practised the questions at the end of each chapter, and wrote gazillion small programs to test everything that I read.
Additionally I googled up doubts that I had and read different blogs, stackoverflow, fished out HeadFirst Java and solved the exercises at the end of each chapter.
I stuck to my own pace, I did not want to rush myself...it took me 3 months to prepare.
The exam questions were not tough. I was given an erasable plastic board and felt pen for any rough work. I had enough time to spend on each question, and review all of them before clicking 'Finish'
At the end I was shown a screen with the % scored, and the objectives for which I answered incorrectly.(Incorrect answers are not mentioned)
