In Cade's book page 175 the example deployment diagram, it has a note "Persistence and integration tier" linking to DB and external systems (LDAP, Email server, Inventory system and Pricing system).
Shouldn't the note say "Resource tier (including external system) instead?
I think the "integration tier" should be linked to in the app server box in the deployment diagram because components in integration tier are packaged and run in the app server.
