Check for ActiveX from JSP

I'm working on a project where I need to check from a JSP page if ActiveX is available to determine how a graphic will be displayed. This is for an application that has a preference saved in our database on how users want to view their graphics, but one of the methods only works with ActiveX. If ActiveX is not available through whatever browser a user is currently using, I need to overwrite the saved preference for the current session and display any graphics with the non-ActiveX method even if they prefer the other method.

I know through Javascript I can check for ActiveX, but I also know Javascript executes after the JSP code has already processed. Is there any way within JSP to determine if ActiveX is available on the browser currently accessing the page?

Try using tag library in jsp to embed the <object> tags you use for your ActiveX.
