problem with starting the tomcat server

i am using windows operating system when ever i clicked startup.bat file its blincking and closed the window.
i set the JAVA_HOME environment variable.i also set classpath for servlet-api.jar
still my server not started.Please help me.

The first step toward finding out what is going wrong is to execute the startup.bat from a command prompt window.
Open a command prompt window, navigate to the
bin directory and execute startup.bat - if you are lucky, informative error messages will appear.
Note that your environment CLASSPATH is totally ignored by Tomcat. A typical Tomcat installation will include a class-loader-howto.html file in the webapps/docs directory which explains a lot.
