selectOneMenu asynchronuous loading

Hi everybody,

I try to implement asynchronuous loading with combo box or grids.

We suppose we have this case to load users in a combo box in our JSF page :

Is it possible to have a first loading of the page with the combo box WITHOUT data and then all data could be loaded when the first click on the combo box will happen.
So we could add an ajax event as followed :

When the method fillUsers will be fired we will fill our users list and rerender userCombo to load items coming from the server.

I have a problem with that because each time the user will click on the combo box, the server side method will be fired. We can set a parameter to check if this list has already been initialized
but it will cost a server hint.

I think this loading way can be useful for heavy combo box list, so if someone has a good idea he will be welcome

Thanks for your help
