hi there, i completed the HEAD first Java last month for my SCJP 6 exam. Now i've started studying the standard SCJP 6 book by KAthy SIerra and BErt Bates. After i finished my first chapter i was able to solve only 1 question from 9, completely. I got parts of few questions right though. In the second chapter i did 7 out of 15, completely.

whats wrong??
is it normal??
what can i do to make things better..

I think you should work hard. When i prepared, i didn't care how much time i am taking to solve a question but my aim was to solve all questions.Later on with time my timing was improved.

it depends upon why you attempting questions wrongly. for one thing the exercise questions given at the end are of higher difficulty level than the real exam. whichever questions you attempted wrongly , see that why you answered it incorrectly. was it really difficult involving some concepts you don't know or was it that you failed to apply the concepts as given in the chapter. also you can do one more thing, while solving questions dive into the theory related to the question, read the theory and then again comeback to the question and see that if you are able to solve. in every case i think the reason is that either you are too fast in reading the book that you forget the questions by the time you attempt to solve the questions given at the end of the exam. when you finish the chapter , read it twice in case you think you havent grasped the concepts. read 2 minute drill. and NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

CODE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. i will say this twice
CODE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.

make small little programs , tinker with them , play with them. have any doubts , post here , we are ready to help you .
