may i reccomend you read a good book on designing and writing web sites. i found the head first one good (servlets and jsp i think it was), it also explains all about how websites work and link together.

I read that one... i am already on the latest chapter. It only tells you more about MVC, jndi etc. but not how the .com . Yeah i like the book. I understand the basic jee because of it. :)
There is an enormous amount of work needed to set up a web server for a domain. And all of that has nothing at all to do with web apps. Once that's all set -- or you buy hosting from a provider (recommended) -- there's a lot more to setting up a web application than a single file. And it's not stuff that you can just pick up via forum posts.
