Strange servlet behaviour

Hello everyone !

I read in the servlet 3.0 spec that servlet declare with @WebServlet must extends HttpServlet. I test with extends GenericServlet or implements Servlet
and it works...

Then i read when i call getAsyncContext() without call startAsync() before throws IllegalException. But it returns just null (no exception)..

Do you have explanations about this behaviour ?? I used Tomcat 7 like container.

Thank you !!!
