The exam requirement says to use Java Foundation classes (Swing component ) exclusively.
Does it mean we cannot use java.awt.ActionEvent, ActionListener, LayoutManager ...those from awt package?

No. You can still use these classes. You just can't use classes that have an equivalent in the javax.swing package. For instance, java.awt.Button cannot be used, since there's javax.swing.JButton.
