Tomcat7 as a service

Hello,

I am new to Java and Tomcat as I was previously involved with Unix.

I am now involved with a project using Java and Tomcat. I have Tomcat7 setup manually and working on the development server and can deploy a WAR file okay. But I need it also set up as a Windows service. The Apache Tomcat website link below gives some information which seems appropriate as it mentions using the service.bat file, but is confusing;

http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-7.0-doc/windows-service-howto.html

I know the //IS// parameter is "Install Service" but the input of the command;

C:\mytomcatbinlocation> service.bat install

Appears to install the service okay but it does not provide any means to add the //IS// parameter. Will the service be okay or do I have to perform another process?

The link above states;

##################
Install the service named 'Tomcat7'
C:\> service.bat install

If using tomcat7.exe, you need to use the //IS// parameter.

Install the service named 'Tomcat7'
C:\> tomcat7 //IS//Tomcat7 --DisplayName="Apache Tomcat 7" \
C:\> --Install="C:\Program Files\Tomcat\bin\tomcat7.exe" --Jvm=auto \
C:\> --StartMode=jvm --StopMode=jvm \
C:\> --StartClass=org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap --StartParams=start \
C:\> --StopClass=org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap --StopParams=stop
###################

Thanks in advance for assistance

Regards

AJF
