Hi ,

My question is regard to SL4j vs Commons-logging. SL4j is also under Apache Licence then why its not used in Tomcat by default. Is SL4J a rival to Commons- logging. Which one is better. Though SL4j is not developed by Apache community, But it is approved by the Apache Software Foundation as compatible with Apache Software License.

do you mean SLF4j?

SLF4J is used to permit the construction of apps from components what may be using different loggers in order to funnel them all into a single unified logging facility.

Tomcat doesn't need something like that because it's mostly self-contained and therefore not at the mercy of multiple logger users.

Customer surveys are for companies who didn't pay proper attention to begin with.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
