Aiming at OCAJP 7, studying Java 5.0, can the book help?

Hello, everyone!
I have a question about the book.
I am studying Java 5.0. I know that there aren't too much of the additions made to Java-5.0 to make it Java-6. So, I have planned to give the 'OCPJP 6' exam once I complete studying it and reading the additional topics.
I want to know whether, after getting the knowledge of Java-6, if I read this book, will this book help me to cover the additional topics of Java-7 and get me prepared for 'OCAJP 7' exam. Also, how many additions are made to Java-6 to make it Java-7?
Thanks in advance.

Good day..! :-)

The book covers the new features of Java 7 as they relate to the certification exam. These features deal with the language improvements such as enhancements to exception handling and the use of string literals in switch statements. Numerous enhancements have been made to file IO. Most of the other enhancements are not directly applicable to the exam. I hope that this helps.

Despite being in his signature, Richard failed to mention his other book is all about Java 7 new features. If you want to learn Java 7 beyond the exam, it is a good read.

Why do you want to take the OCAJP after getting SCJP 6? It's a much easier exam. You could just take the Java 7 upgrade exam and be OCPJP 7 after having the Java 6 cert.

Hello mam! Thanks!
Actually, I wasn't planning for OCAJP after SCJP 6, but instead, I was thinking whether I can give OCAJP directly.

But, thanks for the information. I didn't know this.

Thanks, sir. So, I think only the File IO part is included for the OCAJP exam, and a few inclusions from other topics also.

Hello mam!
I will completing Head First Java (Java 5.0) a month from now. I wanted to learn Java 7 for giving the OCPJP Java 7 exam. Can you tell me any good book which book can help?
I also have the book OCP Java 6 Study Guide by K&B in mind. Or should I first complete the Head First Java, then the OCP Java 6 Study Guide, then look for any book that can help me learn Java 7's new features for giving the exam? Help.

I am Sorry.
I do not mean that Mr. Richard Reese's book isn't good. I haven't even seen it till now.
I just mean that are there any other books too? And with this book, can I jump from Java5 to Java7?

The OCP Java 6 Study Guide + the Java 7 upgrade exam tutorial pages are sufficient as far as reading goes. If you want mock questions for the Java 7 topics, epractice has an upgrade mock that they sell.

If you want to learn Java 7 as a whole (and not just what is on the exam), Richard's book is excellent.

Thanks mam! You are awesome!
The information you gave is very very valuable for me!! Thanks again !!!
Those links are very very useful.
Many days I was did surf the Oracle website for getting information about the exams, and got to know that they provide paid online tutorial for getting people prepared for the exams, but I never knew that Oracle has also given the study material on the website too!!
And the information about the books.., I couldn't have got that from anyone who doesn't know the big picture, i.e., about all the books..
