What are you trying to achieve here?
Do you want to pass the object to another page after a FORM submit (request-response cycle)?
Or is the new page a popup from the original page?

So this involves a server side Action/Servlet (for Request processing). You can fetch the String Object from the request and populate it in the next Response.
You would not be able to access Objects in different Request-Response cycles using JavaScript alone.
I know I am being rather generic but without more information its rather difficult to suggest an exact solution.
