hide button JComboBox, no loss of color

I managed to remove the button of JComboBox with the code:



I want recover the colors of JComboBox
or a alternative to hide the button
a tip?

I did not find any color change with a normal BasicUIComboBox. From my experiences, the BasicUIComboBox is a fickle thing. What I've done in the past is move sections of code around until it works. Try moving your getting rid of JButton code to just after creating the comboBox, then changing color. Another thing I've done to change background color is this:
