Array constructing

Hello everyone! (my first post here).

Can you explain me why is this statement correct?:

int [] it2 = new int[][]{{1}}[0]; 

And how should I read it? I'm quite confused about that one.
Firstly I thought, it will generate the compiler error because of incorrect dimensions, but unfortunately it didn't.

same as

int [] it2 = new int[][] {
                new int[] {
                    1
                }
            } [0];

just print the it2 and see ( System.out.println(Arrays.toString(it2)); ) .
